TDEE & Macro Calculator Guide

TDEE is a calorie estimate, not a verdict. It gives you a starting point that should be adjusted with real progress data.

The basic method

A calculator estimates resting energy expenditure from body inputs, then multiplies it by an activity factor. Macro targets split the calorie target into protein, carbohydrates, and fats.

What changes the result?

Activity level: this is usually the biggest source of error because people often overestimate movement.

Body composition: two people with the same weight can have different energy needs.

Sleep: sleep cycles are variable; bedtime calculators are best used as scheduling aids, not strict medical tools.

Use the calculator

Start with an estimate, track outcomes for two to four weeks, then adjust calories or macros based on real progress.
